THEME OF THE CLASS
During this workshop you will learn how to make an article of clothing (a dress or a skirt), starting from a single piece of nuno felt. You will be working with a very simple but effective pattern which will allow you to develop your own personal fashion ideas.
Special attention will be devoted to certain aspects such as pleating, layering and creating box pleats that will give the garment a fluctuating and almost dreamy feel. To complete the article, fabric and knit sections will be inserted.
Charity van der Meer has a degree in Fashion Design and Knitwear from the Nottingham Art and Design University, graduating 2002. She then moved to the Netherlands, where she worked in fashion and over the years she developed her own collection using the felting technique. Charity believes that felt gives her an infinity of creative possibilities, which she pursues by constantly researching and experimenting with new materials and techniques using natural textiles, raw materials and organic fibers.
Her “Sharit Ethical Fashion” collection has caught Lidewij Edelkoort‘s eye in Paris, and has now become a well-known brand in the Netherlands.
Charity has taught courses both in Europe and in the USA. To learn more about her: www.sharit.net
