Yarns in the city’s historic centre for World Wide Knit In Public Day

Do you know of World Wide Knit In Public Day? For us in the textile sector and people passionate about knitting it is a very special day. Let us explain why, for those who may not know.

This day was born in 2005 and is dedicated to people who love knitting or crocheting in a group, and not just them, though because all other techniques are welcome too. The important thing is to share your love for knitting, some skills, new projects and even life stories. And all in public of course. This being an interesting concept of course as knitting is usually a solitary activity, likely to be carried out in ones’ free time. This day, however, creates the opportunity to be together and have fun.

This year we participated by involving three extraordinary women: Kate, Silvia and Fabiana.

Kate Alinari, crochet designer of a rare bravura. Her style is playful, cheerful, and colourful. If you are looking for someone who is a true expert to teach a crochet course or to propose exclusive patterns, be sure to ask her.

Fabiana Valeck, on the other hand, is a Brazilian architect who has been living in Italy for the past few years. She loves textile art, but her true passion lies in weaving.

Silvia Ammendola, rather, is a medical radiology technician with an ample passion for the textile arts. Over the years she has experimented with various techniques but in the end fell in love and now specializes in fork crocheting, so much so that she has written a book: “Forcella a RaggiX”. In this field she has participated in major national fairs with courses and demonstrations; teaching and sharing fork crocheting in various haberdasheries with original projects.

We put our yarns at their disposal, both summer and winter, and they experimented with them for a entire morning. In the gorgeous setting of our beloved historic centre, in Prato.

They also managed, in a no time at all, to create handy storage jars with our Stromboli tape. They are practical and simple to make. Try it for yourself!
