Bargains at a reduced price!

Price range: $5.99 through $52.05

The Neppy Collection Extra Fine Merino Wool Tops represents a creative fiber with distinctive character, obtained from extra fine merino wool enriched with viscose inclusions that generate a delicate slub effect. This particular processing gives the fiber a dynamic and irregular appearance, with small visual contrasts that add depth and movement to the material. Ideal for spinning, weaving and experimental fiber art projects, it combines the softness of merino with the aesthetic vibrancy of the neppy effect, offering an expressive and contemporary raw material.

Products in the outlet are offered at a reduced price because they have characteristics that do not fully meet our quality standards. They remain fully workable, however.

Availability and Packaging
This item is available in packages of 100 g, 500 g, 1 kg per color. Each package has a natural tolerance of ±3% and contains continuous tape tops, ideal both for saving money and for those who need large quantities for technical processing.
For extra-CEE shipments, packages are vacuum-packed, reducing volume and lowering shipping costs. Don’t worry: once opened, the viscose returns to its original, fluffy volume with no loss of quality.

Tops (worsted ribbon) of extra fine merino wool and viscose.
Composition: 90% extra fine merino wool, 10% viscose
Ribbon weight: about 23 g/m - 0.81 oz/yd

The fiber is composed of extra fine merino wool with the addition of small viscose fibers that create the characteristic neppy (flaming) effect. The merino wool provides softness, elasticity and fineness, while the viscose introduces visual discontinuities in the form of shinier or slightly longer micro-inclusions. The result is an irregular but balanced structure with a slightly textured surface and great aesthetic richness.

Extra fine merino wool comes from selected farms located mainly in South America, while viscose is a fiber of vegetable origin obtained from regenerated cellulose produced in Italy. The combination of the two components occurs during processing to obtain a material with controlled aesthetic effect.

Our merino wool is mulesing-free, meaning it comes from farms that do not practice mulesing, a surgical procedure used in some parts of the world to prevent parasitic infestations in sheep. The choice to use wool from supply chains that exclude this practice reflects our commitment to animal welfare and more responsible farm management.

The dyes used for our products meet the requirements of the OEKO-TEX standard, which guarantees the control and limitation of substances potentially harmful to human health and the environment.
Fiber dyeing is carried out in our dyehouse in Italy, in compliance with current European regulations on chemicals and environmental safety, including the REACH Regulation (EC No. 1907/2006), which governs the registration, evaluation, authorization and restriction of chemical substances.
Operating within the European Union also entails compliance with additional provisions on environmental protection and textile product safety, such as the CLP Regulation (EC No. 1272/2008), relating to the classification, labeling and packaging of substances and mixtures. This regulatory framework ensures that dyeing processes are conducted according to high standards of safety, traceability and environmental responsibility, offering a reliable product for both the end user and the environment.

Our merino wool and viscose tops are perfect for l´needle felting, forwater felting, for spinning, the hand weaving, for arm and giant knitting.

Because colors may vary depending on the settings of the monitor or device being used, we recommend that you purchase our Color Folder to check the shades live before placing your final order. Want to check the quality of the material? Choose our Sample Box

ATTENTION: all our colors generally have high light and wash fastness. However, fluorescent colors (80's collection), in addition to having lower light resistance, may also experience significant color loss when exposed to alkaline or particularly aggressive soaps, as well as during prolonged processing or washing. This phenomenon can also occur, to varying degrees, with dark and particularly bright colors. For materials dyed in these shades, we always recommend performing a preliminary processing and washing test on a small sample before completing your final project. This precaution is essential, especially when colored materials are combined with raw or light-colored fibers.
Finally, to best preserve colors, we recommend not drying finished items in direct sunlight, but in a shaded location.
